“Autumn…the year’s last, loveliest smile.” -William Cullen Bryan
“Life starts all over again when it gets crisp in the fall.” – F. Scott Fitzgerald
Today is the first day of Fall, and that makes my heart so very, very happy. This time of year has always been my favorite since I was a little girl because my birthday is in October. Since I moved to the States and experienced true Fall weather though, I am absolutely in love with every part of this season. I thought it would be fun to share some of my thoughts on what I love about Fall as well as some pictures of the Fall decor in our home.
I love the myriad of colors that the leaves turn, and how they fly gracefully through the air on their journey to the ground. This is the only time of year when death looks so beautiful and meaningful, because the leaves’ deaths are making way for new life in the Spring.
I also love the many traditions that come along with this time of year, especially the focus on being thankful. Even though I believe we should be thankful through each season of the year, there is something so beautiful and inspiring about this season that makes me re-focus on how thankful I am for everything.
I love how the mornings and evenings are cool and crisp, yet not too cold. Cool enough for a sweater, but not cold enough to make you wear a million layers. Kentucky still needs to get its act together weather wise. It has been mighty hot these past weeks, but we have had some lovely almost-fall ish days in the 60s and 70s. On those days, I loved sitting out on our deck in the morning, reading my bible amidst the sound of rustling leaves, birds, squirrels, and Winston’s meowing about coming out to the deck.
I love all the pumpkins and pumpkin flavored things. I am seriously such a stereotypical “white girl” when it comes to fall. Give me all the pumpkin things any day and I will be your best friend for life! This makes me even more excited to work at Trader Joe’s this time of year. I’m sure I’ll be writing about all my TJ’s Pumpkin favorites soon. 😉
I love decorating our home for Fall. Fall colors are so warm and cozy to me, and there’s no such thing as having too many pumpkins or fake leaves around.
I love drinking hot drinks to warm me up. You already know how much I love drinking coffee, but once the weather gets colder I love to drink hot drinks in the evening to warm up. Some of my non-coffee favorites are: pumpkin spiced chai lattes, hot chocolate. and apple cider.
I’m so thankful that God made Fall. What a kind Father we have, that He would make such a lovely time of year as this! What do you love about Fall?
