To my dearest Nate on your 25th birthday:
Happy birthday, my love! I hope that today out of all the days of this year, you feel especially loved and cared for. Apart from salvation, you’re God’s greatest gift to me. I’m so glad God allowed you to be born 25 years ago today.
You constantly love me to well, and serve me day in and day out. On the days when I’m especially sinful and hard to live with, you still love me and care for me. I am so so blessed to be your wife and have you as my best friend. On our wedding day my heart felt full to the brim with love for you, but with each passing day since then it has grown in its capacity to love you. I cherish each sweet memory I’ve had with you, and look forward to all the rest God has ordained for us.
Thank you for being such a servant-leader in our home. Thank you for working hard at your job and in your classes for God’s glory, not your own. I love how you love the bible and want to know it better each day. I love how you love to read it to me, and how you are constantly reminding me of its truth in my darkest moments.
I love how chill and joyful you are everyday. The Lord knew I needed a laid-back, calm man to counteract my craziness! 😀
You make my heart swoon every day with all your rugged handsome-ness. I love how manly and strong you are, yet how gentle and kind you are at the same time.
I know you will be a wonderful dad someday, because of how sweetly you interact with all of our nieces and nephews and the sweet kiddos at church. This makes me heart ache sometimes as we wait for the children we so want to have, but I know that this is God’s will for us at this time.
Your life hasn’t always been easy or fun. Losing your mom at such a young age brought so much suffering and pain into your life, but I see how God has used that pain to shape you and grow you so that you have greater faith in Him. I don’t know what the Lord has for us in this next year, but I know that by His grace we can face whatever comes our way.
I hope this next year brings many new, exciting adventures for you. Adventures that will strengthen your faith and grow you to be more like Jesus. I also hope you’ll get lots of yummy food and play lots of fun games that will bring you happiness. I’m excited to read more books with you, and go on longboarding dates and coffee dates and all other dates. 🙂
I know I could go on and on forever, so I should make myself stop here.
I love you to the moon and back my dear Nathan, and I wish you the happiest of birthdays!
