Visiting the Found Cottage

When I found out we were headed to Michigan for my brother’s wedding, I googled how far it was from The Found Cottage. When I saw it was only about 20 minutes away from where we’d be, I got so excited and started planning a visit there. The Found Cottage is a lovely shop owned by one of my favorite bloggers, Liz Marie Galvan, and ever since she started it I’ve wanted to visit. Liz inspires me with her gifts of blogging, interior decorating, and her love for her husband and the Lord (of course she has a pretty cool name too…haha). They’ve been walking the road of infertility for a lot longer than we have, and her faith through it has encouraged me. I’m sad that Liz wasn’t at the store when we visited. I would’ve loved to meet her since I love to read her blog and have been so inspired by her life and story. Hopefully next time!

The shop has a lovely array of vintage, handmade, and new items for the home, as well as clothing and jewelry. It’s like a Michigan version of Magnolia Market (Liz has actually met Chip and Jo, and her decor style is very similar).

As soon as I walked in, I loved how every nook and cranny of the store was styled like a lovely old farmhouse. I could have gotten one of everything if Nate let me. 😉

I loved shopping at the store! I kept circling it over and over to make sure I didn’t miss anything.

Nate sweetly let me get some awesome things from the store, one of which he found himself, this vintage suitcase.

I love it because it’s old and seems to hold whispers of past travels and adventures. I think it’ll look great in our house as a decoration, and it’ll also be fun to use in photo shoots and such. I also love it because it reminds me of Newt Scamander’s suitcase from Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them.

The next thing I got was this amazing dandelion poster. It might not seem to impressive, but it means a lot to Nate and I because of one of our favorite books by N. D. Wilson–Dandelion Fire. If you haven’t read any books by Wilson, you seriously need to get on that. Right now.

This poster looks awesome by itself, but I did a little DIY project with it that made it even better. I can’t wait to share the tutorial with you soon!

Nate also got me this wonderful handmade mug. Y’all know how much I love my coffee, so this mug is a favorite already. I’m also in love with neutrals and whites right now, too, so this little mug makes me so happy.

The last thing I bought at the Found Cottage was this little air plant. It was so little and cute that I couldn’t pass it up. 😃 I’ve always thought air plants are cool, so I’m excited to have this little guy and hope it grows well. Do you have any cool ideas for displaying him? They had these cool glass orbs at the shop, but I thought it would be fun to come up with another way to display it.

I had so much fun visiting the Found Cottage. I can’t wait to show you how I style the things I got!
