Baby Mee Bumpdate: First Trimester

Hello dear friends! I’m still pinching myself that we’re expecting and I get to experience pregnancy. I want to remember every detail, in order to rejoice in the Lord’s goodness and provision to me. So I thought Baby Mee “Bumpdates” would be fun to write ever so often during this wonderful journey. Basically, they’ll just be a way to share pictures, as well as how I’ve been feeling, my cravings, and thoughts on pregnancy through each stage. I had planned on doing them more frequently throughout this pregnancy, but time has gotten away from me. So they’ll just be whole trimester bumpdates. Hope you enjoy them! Let me know if you have any more ideas of details I should add.

Pictures (hehe I know I don’t have a bump yet, but I still want to include pics from early on…also, I wasn’t super faithful with staying up on the weekly pics during this trimester, but that’s okay since I didn’t really have a bump yet):

SO SO THANKFUL! Every time I would think of our tiny Little inside my womb, I’d just smile and thank the Lord.

TIRED. Like, yawning every other minute and parking on the couch whenever I didn’t have to do anything else. I’m thankful I didn’t have too much nausea during the first trimester like many women experience, but oh man, this tiredness was NO JOKE. I seriously felt like a zombie everyday, and no amount of naps or hours or nighttime sleep helped. So glad I got more energy once I entered weeks 14-15.

Food Cravings/Aversions:

Sadly I craved a lot of bad (but oh so delicious!) food these weeks, like chips, french fries, pizza, chocolate, and ice cream. There were also days when nothing sounded good tho, so I just chowed down on Life cereal. Also sadly, this trimester coffee didn’t taste good to me at ALL. If you know me, you understand why this is hard because before this coffee had been basically my best friend (besides Nate of course). Chai lattes are now my jam though! So delicious, especially the ones that I got in Canada! Here’s to hoping I’ll crave healthier things later on in my pregnancy!

Activities/ Big things that happened these weeks:

Getting an ultrasound at 7 weeks. I know it was early on, but we just couldn’t wait. The machine was a bit older, so we didn’t get to hear the heartbeat, but we did see it, which was the sweetest little flicker on a computer screen I ever did see. 😀

Visiting Canada. We had so much fun with my sis and her family! It was so lovely holding her sweet babe, knowing his cousin was inside my belly. Can’t wait for them to meet someday! So thankful we were able to make this trip to see Steph and Josh. They were so gracious to host us, especially after Steph had just delivered Vance weeks earlier. Can’t wait until we can visit again with our baby in tow.

Our First Midwife appointment. We are so glad we decided to go with a team of midwives at a nearby hospital in town. Our first visit went really well and confirmed in our minds that this was what we should do. We both are eager to go the more natural route with labor and delivery, so we are thankful there are a good team of midwives here that will help us do that. At the same time, we’ll be in a hospital, so if there are any complications (God forbid), there are many people on hand to help. There are 3 midwives total and we like each of them (which is good, because any of them could be on call when I go in to labor).

That’s it for our first trimester! I’d love to hear stories from my fellow Mamas about their first trimesters, so feel free to leave comments!
