Birthday Highlights

On Saturday night Nate took me out for dinner at an Irish Pub (I got fish and chips, which were tasty!), and then to see Finding Neverland on Broadway, which I absolutely loved. The costumes, acting, choreography and singing were so well done and extraordinary. What I loved most though, is how much Nate enjoyed it. He kept turning to me and smiling during the show, and afterword he kept saying, β€œWe should go to more plays!” I loved that he took me to a musical because it reminded me of the plays we used to go to in college when we were dating. I think there should definitely be more of these kind of dates in our future. πŸ˜€

On the actual morning of my birthday, Nate took me to First Watch, my favorite restaurant. It’s a lovely little breakfast place that has such yummy, fresh food. And they decorate with lots of cast iron pans, so it has such a farmhouse, rustic ambiance too. I always get the pumpkin pancakes this time of year, which are SO good!

I share a birthday with my Mom, which is so fun, except for when we can’t be together on our birthday ;(. But we did get to have a nice chat on the phone, which made me so excited for when she comes in January for Glory’s birth. We shall definitely celebrate our birthday again then.

In closing, I wanted to share these thoughts that I posted on my Instagram yesterday:

We sang “All Glory Be to Christ” today in church and there couldn’t have been a more fitting song for my 25th birthday. As we sang, my eyes filled with happy tears and I gripped my growing belly, praising God for the sweet life growing within.

As I enter this new year with so many adventures on the horizon, the most exciting being Glory’s arrival, I can’t help but look back on the past year and praise God for all He’s taught me. Last year my birthday was really hard because of all we were walking through with infertility. I didn’t want to grow older because I wasn’t a mom yet. I’m thankful for that pain though, because without it I wouldn’t have learned so much about God’s steadfast love and sovereignty.

“Should nothing of our efforts stand

No legacy survive

Unless the Lord does raise the house

In vain its builders strive

To you who boast tomorrow’s gain

Tell me what is your life

A mist that vanishes at dawn

All glory be to Christ!

All glory be to Christ our king!

All glory be to Christ!

His rule and reign will ever sing,

All glory be to Christ!

His will be done

His kingdom come

On earth as is above

Who is Himself our daily bread

Praise Him the Lord of love

Let living water satisfy

The thirsty without price

We’ll take a cup of kindness yet

All glory be to Christ!

All glory be to Christ our king!

All glory be to Christ!

His rule and reign will ever sing,

All glory be to Christ!

When on the day the great I Am

The faithful and the true

The Lamb who was for sinners slain

Is making all things new.

Behold our God shall live with us

And be our steadfast light

And we shall ere his people be

All glory be to Christ!

All glory be to Christ our king!

All glory be to Christ!

His rule and reign will ever sing,

All glory be to Christ!”

Thank you to all my sweet family and friends who called, texted, or wished me happy birthday yesterday. And most of all, thanks to my dear husband Nate who worked tirelessly to celebrate me this weekend, even though I was very moody because of having a bad cold, missing family, and last minute plans. I surely don’t deserve such a sweet man!

Love,
